Lanzarote Airport Transfers

When you arrive at Guasimeta airport, which is approximately  4 miles south west of Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, your Lanzarote airport transfer will be ready and waiting to transport you and your luggage, hassle free, to your destination.

Arrecife has only been the capital of Lanzarote since 1852.  The Castillo de San Gabriel was built in 1574, however,  after being attacked, it was rebuilt.  Another fort, Castillo de San Jose, was built a little further up the coast.  The harbour was first established in the 18th century.  Today, there are pedestrianised prectincts housing shops and restaurants, but little else to recommend the town.

Before Arrecife became the capital of Lanzarote, Teguise was the main town. Here you can visit the tourist market on a Sunday morning, but if you want to buy, be prepared to haggle very hard.

The resort of Puerto del Carmen, which lays south west of Arrecife, has the best beach in Lanzarote.  With  6km of golden sand, and a long promenade on one side of the seafront, and  shops galore and numerous restaurants on the other, a stroll along the strip will keep most visitors busy for a few hours either during the day or evening.  If shopping isn’t your bag, try cycling, diving, deep-sea fishing or horse riding.  All these facilities are available in or around Puerto del Carmen.
At the southern tip of Lanzarote, lay the Punta del Papagayo (with little sandy coves),  the amazing beach at Playa del Papagayo, and to the west, the  pretty little resort of Playa Blanca, with a fishing port, and a 1km seafront with shops and restaurants.

The other main tourist resort in Lanzarote is Costa Teguise.  A low rise town with small beaches, situated 9km north east of Arrecife.  There are a few nice restaurants here,  together with a shopping centre named the Centro Comercial Las Cucharas.

Looking for a brilliant day out?  Visit the Timanfaya National Park and the Montanas del Fuego (Fire Mountains).  Watch guides throw water into the volcano chasm, wait for the water to boil and then for the fountain of steam to come whooshing out.  The Restaurant del Diablo cooks many of their dishes over an erupting volcanic BBQ – take a look.  Careful if you pick up any pebbles at Islote de Hilario – they can be rather hot!

Don’t  miss the Jardin de los Cactus (cactus garden) with over 1400 varieties of cacti, many displaying  wonderful flowers.   If  you’re supple,  and don’t mind bending (small passages to crawl through), take a guided tour through the  Cuevas de los Verdes  to  Jameos del Agua where the blue lake is home to tiny white blind crabs.

The relaxed pace of life in Lanzarote, together with the temperate climate, will ensure you have a resfreshing holiday. And a Lanzarote airport transfer booked with clicktransfers.com will ensure your holiday is hassle free!
