Benidorm is the main attraction on the Costa Blanca, with two lovely, but busy, beaches - the Poniente and the Levante. The weather in November and December is changeable and cool, in January and February cold-ish, but warms up during March and April and by May is usually hot until October.

There are many theme parks near to Benidorm which all family members will enjoy, either aqua parks or nature parks with dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows. All are a good day out.

Local markets are held on Wednesday and Sunday mornings. The outdoor market is a good place to buy leather goods, ceramics, tablecloths. Be prepared to negotiate on the price if what you want to buy doesn't have a price tag on it. El Cisne Flea Market is where you will find the usual junk - thelocation is outside the town.

The 'Green Tour' is a like a ' blanket trip' It's free, often with wine and beer and a meal thrown in. Just pick up a brochure from street corners. Usually good trips with a chance to see the local villages and almond, lemon and orange groves.

The Canelobre Caves, 40km from Benidorm are worth visiting. See the stalactites and stalagmites. Brilliant lighting dramatises the rock formations, and the acoustics in the cavern make it a popular venue for concerts.

The nightlife in Benidorm is something else. All tastes are catered for, whether it be a quiet meal in a local restaurant, some tapas in a bar, or international cuisine. And then, around 10pm, everything comes to life! Think what type of show you want to see, and you are sure to find it in this resort -karaoke, impersonators, drag artists, dancers or just a disco.

If you're in to water sports, and visit during the summer months, then there are countless activities you can try - windsurfing, scuba diving, water skiing, snorkelling - to mention just a few. Whatever you want to try, you can book up for lessons.

Alicante is the place to go if you're into paragliding. Nice safe hills to launch off from and to fly over the Med. Try a tandem flight with an instructor if you're a first-timer!

The Santa Barbara Castle, built in the 10th century, is one of the largest fortresses in Europe. Fantastic views from the top and dungeons and a palace to visit. On Friday and Saturday evenings, starting at 10pm, there are free concerts to attend. Wonderful evenings to listen to the music and enjoy the fresh air and enchanting surroundings. Also, there are a number of churches and monuments to visit in Alicante. Pick up some brochures from the tourist office to choose which ones you want to visit. Otherwise visit the Museo Taurino (Bullfighting Museum). Now this is truly something different.
